PvP on ChromieCraft

Greetings, Time-Travellers!

Welcome to ChromieCraft’s general Player versus Player (PvP) guide. Whether you’re new to the server, a PvE-focused player who wants to get started with PvP, or a returning veteran, this guide will cover ChromieCraft’s PvP systems and customisation. This will help you get your characters ready for battlegrounds and arena.

Key ChromieCraft PvP Customisation

To help dedicated PvP players earn gold while doing what they enjoy most, ChromieCraft adds an Honour-to-Gold conversion NPC, Shadow Priest Hacki, in the Dalaran Sewers, along with a Soul Shard vendor, Nyeriah, for Warlocks.

Honor gearing is expanded with a custom vendor, Shin, for PvP weapons which includes items such as two-handed weapons, ranged weapons, and relics. This NPC can be found next to arena gear vendors in the Dalaran Sewers.

Battlegrounds

We have included a few balancing factors to battlegrounds. Even though premade queues are enabled, they are capped at 3 players per group. In addition, battlegrounds will only pop once both sides can be filled equally. Solo players will get priority over premades when queueing. Battlegrounds are entirely cross-faction.

XP gained through low level battlegrounds has been boosted, and by only requiring 4 players to pop, it makes them a viable alternative way of levelling. Players can twink at any bracket by either locking XP or creating a Carbon Copy of their character, which allows them to stay at a chosen level.

Battleground players are rewarded monthly based on performance. The top 50 players by wins receive 50 ChromiePoints per win, with extra rewards for the top 10 (see our monthly announcement). The player with the most wins earns the Flawless Victor title.

You can track played games and individual progression on the PvP Stats website.

Arena

At the time of writing, Arena Season 5 is active. We have full liberty in adjusting arena values. Currently, Season 5 teams start at 1500 team/personal rating and MMR of 2100, ensuring easy rating gain. Point modifiers for flushes have also been increased. This change was made to help players access PvP rewards in a more reasonable time frame. In addition, arena teams are cross-faction, allowing Horde and Alliance to team up.

ChromieCraft’s main arena brackets are 2v2, 3v3 and 3v3 Solo Queue. Players can access Solo Queue via a custom NPC in Dalaran Sewers. Your solo queue rating will enable you to purchase arena gear. (Due to client-side limitations, the rating requirement on an item will be red even if you exceed that rating.)
As a note, due to issues in handling MMR in 3v3 Solo Queue, it is currently less played. Due to this reason end-of-season rewards will not be rewarded for this bracket at the end of Season 5.

An additional new bracket has been added, the 1v1 arena. This enables players to duel with arena limitations. It does reward a small amount of arena points per flush, but it does not enable you to purchase gear.

ChromieCraft rewards dedicated arena players with both monthly and end-of-season (2v2 and 3v3 brackets) prizes. Each month, the players with the highest number of arena wins earn the Vanquisher title along with Chromie Points. Team ratings, played games, and individual progression can be seen on our Arena Stats page.

At the end of the season titles are awarded based on final ladder rankings. The number of teams that receive end-of-season rewards is somewhat dependent on the number of teams and played games.

You can spectate any arena game, ongoing or past one, via a spectator NPC in Dalaran Sewers. (If you wish to spectate your own games, you will need to log an alt character due to otherwise glitchy spectating experience.)

Duelling

We know some of you are duelling fans out there, so ChromieCraft included a cooldown reset for duels in front of Stormwind and Orgrimmar as well as for Dalaran Sewers.

How to get geared and catch up for PvP in Season 5?

Getting gear

The most efficient path to getting your character ready for battlegrounds is to farm heroics and purchase the Savage Gladiator’s battlegear through heroism badges. This set includes important set bonuses for every class as well as the glove bonus.

Before Savage Gladiator set, you can get level 78 crafted gear from either Leatherworking, Tailoring or Blacksmithing. These sets include off-pieces that Savage Gladiator’s set does not have.

Jewelcrafters can also craft necklaces and rings that grant resilience.

Blacksmiths can craft decent weapons, in addition to the weapons you can get by farming heroics.

Once you have your Savage Gladiator set, your off-parts, jewellery, and weapon(s), there are two paths you can take to progress your gear, each having its downside. You can either jump straight into the arena to farm the rating required for Deadly off-parts or if you’re not ready for that quite yet, do battlegrounds for Hateful off-parts. Going straight into the arena will significantly reduce the amount of honour you have to farm but it depends on your tolerance for being at a gear disadvantage.

Finally, a quick note on trinkets. For non-Human players, there is a quest in Hellfire Peninsula, available at Honor Hold for Alliance and Thrallmar for Horde, that rewards a 2-minute cooldown PvP trinket. While it doesn’t provide any stats, it gives you immediate access to a PvP trinket as soon as you start PvPing.

This can be especially useful early on, as it allows you to delay purchasing the 200 item level trinket and instead prioritise larger upgrades, such as belt or boots, which offer more overall value (including an extra socket compared to crafted off-pieces).

For your second trinket, the easiest trinkets to get for PvP are the Darkmoon Faire cards. While Greatness can be a bit pricey, other cards such as Berserker, Death, and Illusion are competitive options that are affordable.

If you feel like you do not have the time and effort to farm Deadly Gladiator’s gear, there is also Hateful Gladiator’s gear as an option. This can be purchased either with Emblems of Valor or with a combination of honour and arena points (requires rating).

Wintergrasp

Wintergrasp is not available on ChromieCraft at the time of writing. It is being worked on, and there will be an announcement once it is ready for a release.

Feedback from Season 5

ChromieCraft’s PvP community has given valuable feedback about what has worked and what has not with our changes from Season 4 to Season 5. This feedback will be taken into consideration when determining how Season 6 will be. Expect a new announcement about Arena Season 6 closer to the season start.

Conclusion

At its core, PvP on ChromieCraft is driven by the community. Whether you’re teaming up with friends, meeting new players, or competing against familiar names on the ladder, ChromieCraft’s PvP scene is approachable and is the perfect place to be experimental. Start where you are, improve as you go, and enjoy the fight!
