Dev Diary #13 – Battles with festive cheer

Hello there, time-travelers!

We hope you’re all doing splendidly. Today we’d like to share a little peek into what’s coming next for ChromieCraft, along with some thoughts about the road ahead. As many of you already know, we’re fast approaching our Heroic Dungeon Release on the 17th Dec., and with it comes a rather exciting bundle of updates:

  • All Heroic versions of the currently available dungeons will be unlocked.
  • 2× experience rates will continue all the way to level 80.
  • Refer-a-Friend bonuses and requirements now scale all the way up to level 80.
  • Scroll of Resurrection benefits will likewise carry you to level 80.
  • Savage Gladiator PvP gear will become available!
  • And lastly, Joyous Journeys will conclude as we step into the next tier of adventure.

Additionally (and please take note!) with the arrival of Savage Gladiator gear, we will be resetting Honour Points as well as PvP Marks.

RDF Changes

We aren’t following retail’s patch progression to the letter, largely because we already have the Dungeon Finder, and we believe this feature will shape the bracket quite significantly. One key change you’ll notice is this: You will be able to queue Heroic dungeons as many times as you wish, as Random Dungeon Finder does not check Heroic lockouts. This should make gearing up your characters considerably smoother, perfect preparation for the challenges ahead (yes, we are indeed looking at the dread citadel itself). As a little extra incentive to keep the queue lively, your first Heroic Random Dungeon completion each day will award an Emblem of Valor. We will also be lowering the required ilvl to sign up for heroics considerably. We will be monitoring this and making changes as necessary.

The Work on the Dread Citadel Begins!

We have already received the first wave of Naxxramas reports, and we’re genuinely pleased with their quality — the raid appears to be in rather decent shape. That said, one can never have too much testing before release, so please do keep those reports coming. We will soon be applying our first round of tuning changes to Naxxramas. We don’t have precise numbers to share just yet, but you can expect a more forgiving level of tuning compared to the raids previously released, given the relatively smaller gap between player power and content difficulty at this stage. With the holidays approaching, things naturally wind down a bit. The team and our wonderful contributors will be taking a well-deserved break from 24th December to 7th January, after which we’ll return refreshed and ready to push forward at full steam. We are tentatively projecting the Naxxramas release for the first half of February, with Eye of Eternity following shortly after. This makes thorough raid testing absolutely vital, the sooner we have solid reports, the sooner we can ensure these raids are polished and ready for a smooth release.

Great News for the PvP Community!

We’re happy to announce that Apatia will be joining the team as our PvP Community Leader and the latest member of the Chromiecraft Staff. They’ve shown exceptional dedication, insight, and consistency in helping identify PvP issues, providing feedback, and supporting fellow players and, from now on, they’ll be working closely with us to help shape the direction of PvP, ensure your voices are heard, and keep the battleground spirit alive and well. Please join us in giving them a warm welcome and let’s get PvPing!

That’s all for now

Thank you all so much for your ongoing support, enthusiasm, and effort! We hope you’ve had a fantastic year — and that the next one treats you even better. It’s an honour to have you with us on this adventure. Cheers, and happy hunting!
